New Haven/Yale Golf Program

Thursday, May 19, 2016

The Yale African American Affinity Group (YAAA) in conjunction with The First Tee of Connecticut and The Yale Golf Course continues to offer middle school students to learn the game of golf. The First Tee curriculum focuses on teaching character education and it’s “Nine Core Values” (honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy, and judgment). Under the guidance of Professional Golf Coach, Camile Collier, the 2016 program began on Monday, April 25th from 4:00pm - 6:00PM and continues through the summer ending on August 15th

This program has benefited the city’s youth and surrounding community for many years. The youth are exposed to a disciplined experience of teamwork and fun. Golf builds each child’s confidence, focus, commitment and tenacity. The program also allows the students to cross paths of other children in the community they would have had no occasion to meet. The team building and morale boost gained from the sport of golf is beyond compare.
