Event description:

Please join in our monthly YAAA Steering Committee meetings. These meetings are an opportunity to hear about what has been happening with YAAA and what is in the works. We welcome all members of the Yale community who are interested in getting involved and sharing their ideas. The meetings will take place via Zoom.

This month’s guest speakers will be Barbara Hildebrand and Dr. Andrés Martin, from the Yale School of Medicine Teaching Learning Center. They will be introducing the Simulated Participant (SP) Program at Yale School of Medicine in the hopes of forming a collaboration to help recruit new actors into their SP community.

The SP Program, now entering its third decade, provides clinical learners in medicine, nursing, and other disciplines, at all levels of training with a safe and effective space in which to acquire and practice their skills. The goal of the SP Program is to incorporate a wide variety of individuals into their programs, who may be representative of the New Haven population that trainees care for. However, they have struggled recruiting several groups, including Latin/x, Black, and LGBTQ individuals with acting experience.
